Instructions for winterizing my pontoon.

Changing the Oil

1. Remove outboard cover and open oil fill cap and oil dip stick.

2. Remove cover to access oil drain bolt, use a large flat blade screwdriver.   Use cover as a funnel

3. Remove oil plug (12mm) wrench, twist to left to remove.

4. Remove oil filter using socket wrench and oil filter socket.

5. Install new oil filter, coat rubber ring with oil prior to installing.

6. Reinstall oil drain plug.  Reinstall drain plug cover.  Wipe down excess oil prior to reinstalling.

7. Add 2.1 quarts of new oil.

Changing the lower unit lube

1. Remove the upper lower unit plug, this plug is used to check the oil level.

2. Remove the lower drain/fill plug.

3. Drain lube.

4. Using a fill pump and correct fitting for the engine, pump new lube into the lower drain hole until lube starts flowing out of the top oil check hole.

5. Reinstall the top check lube plug.  This plug is the shorter of the two with a flat end.

6. Remove the filler pump hose and quickly reinstall the lower plug, being careful to minimize the amount of lube that drains out.  Since the upper plug is in, there is no air hole for the lube to quickly drain out the lower plug hole.

7. Wipe down lower using of extra oil.

Draining the gas out of the carburetors

1. There is a short drain hose that is usually connect to the lower carburetor, if it not connect to this carburetor, put hose on the horizontal hose connector on this carburetor.  Allow the other hose end to loosely fit in the receiver in the engine body.

2. Using a medium size flat blade screwdriver loosen the carburetor drain screw on the lower carburetor.  A couple of teaspoons of gas should drain out the carburetor.  Tighten the drain screw.

3. Repeat this procedure on the other two carburetors.  The hose is not long enough to fit in the engine receiver, just position outside the engine.

4. Replace the hose in the lower carburetor.

Miscellaneous

1. Position the engine in the up locked position tipped to the right.

2. Remove the battery or batteries and store in a warm place.  Tag the batteries so you know which one(s) belong in the pontoon.

3. Either drain all the gas from the tanks or add stabil to the gas.

4. Drain the sink water reservoir tank.

5. Check registration expiration.

6. Do any repairs that are necessary, i.e. loose railing, broken lights, electronics, etc.

7. Inventory the supplies and buy new so your are ready for next year.
